A Pyraminx with 6 layers.
Royal Pyraminx was created in May 2011, a year after its predecessor Professor Pyraminx made by the same creator.
Because the pillowness degree of Professor Pyraminx was not enough to let all the pieces stay in place when the layers are being turned, Royal Pyraminx has to be more pillowed. Still it is slightly less pillowed than a Reuleaux Tetrahedron.
This puzzle is a face-/corner turning tetrahedron with 4 essential cuts and 5 effective layers. Like most Pyraminxes it has trivial tips too, adding the sixth layer.
Beside 86 outer (stickered) pieces, there are only 12 internal (invisible) pieces.
Piece type signature: HC4[C4.0/ X9.3c/ Xz6.6/ Xz6.3b/ VNz3.0/ Xz3.9/ Wz3.6/ Xz3.3/][C4.0/ VNz3.0/]
Beginning in 2017 a mass produced version by Calvin's Puzzle hit the market, available with black, white and blue bodies.
Edge length: 97 mm
Weight: 192 grams
