A 3x3x3 truncated into the shape of a hexagonal dipyramid and afterwards truncated again.

Quickly after its invention the hexagonal dipyramid became one the most popular shape variants of any hexahedral puzzle. So popular that its shape was varied further.
In this case Hidetoshi Takeji chopped one of the tips off and thereby created a hexagonal plane.
The first sample received no name so it was up to David Calzone to recreate a sample and giving it its name.
It later went into mass production. See images 3-4.
