Politechnika (later renamed into Politoys) is wellknown as the original producer of Rubik's Cube. Lesser known is that Politechnika also produced a large number (at least 39) of promotional cubes. These were sold in various blue packages known from that era.
The version shown here advertises for Újpesti Gépelemgyár (UG). The company started in the manufacturing of hydraulic and pneumatic machines and tools in 1952, initially mainy for agricultural applications. Later on the name was changed to Újpesti Gépelemgyár Hidraulikus Kft. A factory unit was built in the Hungarian city Kecskemét, but the company was also active in Budapest.
The logo is shown on the blue face piece.
It came in the hungarian politoys package. The sticker on the packing indicates the celebration of 25 years of existence in 1977, but cube and packing are probably of later date and the sticker may have been added later on.
The year is unknown but 1983 is an upper bound.
