Also known as "Diamond Tank".
An early predecessor (although incomplete) was presented by Hidetoshi Takeji in 2008. There he truncated only one tip. One year later another forum member presented Rubiks Gem (2x2x2) with two truncated tips.
There seems to have been no version with a 3x3x3 as base before this mass produced version. which hit the market no later than 2011.
