This puzzle, designed by Oskar van Deventer, was inspired by an idea by Bram Cohen. Bram suggested to add gears to twisty puzzles. Exploring this idea, Oskar came up with the Caution Cube. The gears suggest danger, which is highlighted in the description with the puzzle. "Caution Cube is a twisty puzzle like Rubik's Cube. Its edges have gears that connect opposite faces. Apply extreme caution when solving this novel twisty puzzle. The razor-sharp gears turn, so you can easily hurt yourself. Wear protective gloves and keep this puzzle away from children. This is not a toy!"
The puzzle is a physical implementation of the anti-slice cube. For every turn on one side the opposite side is twisted in the other direction.
