The designer aimed to implement a Master variant of his Rediminx. As such the puzzle has the shape of a dodecahedron that has two cuts under each corner. Therefore it allows fourty different turns. Two years later the "Curvy Dino Megaminx" hit the market which is very similar but lacks the edge pieces.
