From a certain angle, the puzzle resembles that of a Dino Cube, and in fact looks like an oddly stretched Dino Cube. See image 2.
The puzzle is made out of two small 2x2x2s which were connected like a Siamese puzzle, but has large extensions to allow the unmodified 2x2x2 to fit within the puzzle.
Only four of the eight corners turn as expected given the simple mechanism.
