This puzzle combines a Zoetrope (a pre-cinema device to create moving images) with a cylindrical moving hole puzzle. In this case the puzzle has 12x3 pieces but unlike other puzzles the pieces of this one are on the inside of the cylinder.
After being solved the puzzle can be used by a zoetrope by attaching the viewing cap and using a handle to spin the pieces around. See images 6-7.
