A 7x7x7 transformed into the shape of an octahedron but with several pieces left out.
The inventor designed this puzzle as a tribute to the Professor Pyraminx.
Both the Professor Pyraminx and Professor Octaminx share the same face pattern, curvy cuts and pillow shape. Due to corners opposed to faces in tetrahedral geometry the Professor Pyraminx can be considered as a corner and face turning puzzle. The Professor Octaminx is corner turning only, however some similar solving approach can still be used on both.
Focusing on the axis system and the number of cuts the puzzle is more like a shape variant of the 7x7x7. Some of the pieces though are from the theoretical internal 5x5x5 and 3x3x3 cubes of the 7x7x7.
The puzzle is made of 117 pieces, 6 Dayan screws and springs, and 200 stickers.
Edge length: 73 mm
Weight: 151 grams
