A 2x2x2 with an additional layer of quarter loops. These pieces turn 90° with every turn of the cube layer.

This puzzle was inspired by the Geared Disk. The goal was a 2x2x2 where each sticker would have a gear that tracks its rotation. The puzzle is conceptually very similar to the Orbit Cube, from the same inventor. Both combine 3D motion and 2D gears. But in this puzzle, it's the hidden sun gear that's sliced by the cuts, while the planet gears remain whole and stationary on their faces.
Being a 2x2x2-based puzzle, there is a special corner with no gears that acts as the physical core. Please refer to image 4. This puzzle is actually significantly more complex than the Orbit Cube: the very core of the puzzle is a slice-only 4x4x4 made using a mech similar to the Rubik's Revenge. The next shell adds in the 2x2x2 corners to create a Circle 2x2x2. Finally, the gears are added in to create the final puzzle.
The inventor settled on a visually striking loop pattern instead of stickering the gears and the base separately. Since the loops never move off their respective face, this sticker scheme does fully define the puzzle. When the puzzle is in motion, the loops move in a super mesmerizing way.
