Invented, produced, and marketed by Rudolph Destics. Patented in USA in 1996. Came in a variety of colour configurations.
This puzzle combines the 2x2x2 with the Equator. Therefore it can be considered as spherical predecessor of the Mixup Cube, except there are four additional pieces in every equatorial ring.
It is an extremely rare puzzle since only 1500 samples were produced. To make matters even worse this was done in 18 different styles. Because of this big number the images are distributed along two entries.
This entry shows these versions:
Image 1-2: Variant 1 with four colours: Red-Red; Yellow-Yellow; Orange-Orange; Green-Green
Image 9: Variant 2 with four colours: Red-Blue; Yellow-White (two pairs each; two identically coloured corners are adjacent)
Image 10-11: Variant 3 with four colours: Red-Orange (two pairs; two identically coloured corners are adjacent); Green-Black (two pairs; two identically coloured corners are adjacent)
Image 12-13: Variant 4 with four colours: Red-Red; Blue-Blue; Orange-Orange; Purple-Purple (one pairs each)
