An implementation of a 8-years-old dream. A 3x3x3 with six additional pieces types known before only through geometry.
The Complex 3x3x3 grew out of this discussion in this forum back in December 2009. Matt Galla posted his analysis methodology here which was different then that used by Andreas Nortmann and Carl Hoff up till that time. Two days later the inventor envisioned a virtual construction that would contain all 10 of the predicted piece types, here. In 2017 he could finally implement this dream.
Carl presented this puzzle in 2017 in Game & Puzzle Design volume 3.
Early on, Carl Hoff knew the core would need to be a Slice-Turn-Only Circle Cube and the entire construction would need to be a very similar to a Multi-5x5x5. Neither of those puzzles existed at the time and he didn't know how to make either of them. One his way to implement this puzzle Carl also designed some other Multi-puzzles:
Double Circle Real 5x5x5
Window Real 5x5x5
See the separate entries.
"The Other 4x4x4" (see the separate entry) is actually a by-product of this design. You just have to remove the leavers and get the other puzzle.
Diameter: 145.5 mm
