A custom-built 4x4x4 modification.
The version shown here was created from a Meffert's Master Cube. No "hole filling" was required as the corner cubies were solid, and the "plastic saving" hole in the edge cubies didn't surface. That said, this was still a labour intensive project, requiring 32 piece modifications, 32 new stickers, and 48 modified stickers. The final result is worth the effort.
Solving the cube takes a little more effort, as the cues you are used to looking for on the standard 4x4x4 are either gone or look a little different. The number of possible permutations is reduced by a factor of 2187.
