This is essentially a shape modification to a 2x2x2 cube although it uses a customised mechanism. It takes the shape of a molecule or crystal in the form of 3x3x3 "atoms", coloured in three layers.
This is one of a set of three puzzles. The whole series is named Q-Borg. The others are:
