The Helicopter Skewb with another design feature that increases the difficulty even further.
There already is a puzzle "Helicopter Skewb" from the same inventor which looks identical in the solved state to this one. It is a hybrid puzzles that combines the Skewb and the Helicopter Cube puzzles.
For this new version, the creator applied the concept of unbandaging the helicopter moves like he did on his Unbandaged Curvy Copter (please see the separate entry) for the first time.
Image 4 shows a jumbling turn possible only in the unbandaged version.
This puzzle has two very unexpected properties:
1. It is possible to turn the Skewb puzzle by 60 degrees and still make Helicopter Cube moves. See image 5.
2. It is possible to jumble the Helicopter Cube and still make Skewb moves.
By using these and normal moves, it is possible to scramble this puzzle in to very hard to solve shapes. However, once the puzzle is restored to a cube, it can be solved using only Helicopter Cube moves.
This puzzle shares its axis system with the Rhomdo Transformer and Crystal Transformer. Although the unbandaged Helicopter Skewb predates the Rhomdo Transformer the mechanism-entry was name for the later puzzle because it makes clearer what is going on.
