A Helicopter Cube truncated into the shape of an icosahedron.

This is a straightforward shape transformation implemented by truncation only. In this case a Helicopter cube was truncated into the shape of an icosahedron. The distance between opposite edges therefore equals the edge length of the Helicopter Cube.
This truncation is close to the possibilities of the Helicopter Cube. Deeper truncations would have rendered the variant non-functinal. Since cube and icosahedron do not share the same symmetry group the variant inevitably changes its shape while being scrambled. The Helicopter Cubes ability to jumble comes on top of this.
The puzzle represents another slot in the platonic matrix. A matrix which combines the possible traditional axis systems with the platonic solids and the two rhombic catalan solids.
Edge length: 57 mm
