This puzzle is a shape transformation of a mass produced Golden Cube which existed many years only as shape transformation and has skewb as core puzzle.
This Golden Cube was truncated like the octagon is a truncated 3x3x3. This procedure was repeated two times. The result is a hexagon rhombic dodecahedron. With the help of plastic sheet this solid was transformed into a complete rhombic dodecahedron.
Its alternative name is "Golden RD" which explains the origin of this puzzle.
