Before this puzzle the inventor built the cuboids 3x3xN with N in [4..8]. All those cuboids were handmade only by himself. This 3x3x9 on the other hand is the result of a collaboration and CAD.
Image 5 shows its capabilities of shapeshifting.
The 3D design was made by Tom van der Zanden.
The pieces were 3D printed by Geert Hellings on a printer at TNO.
Traiphum Prungtaengkit had the original idea for the mechanism, assembled and stickered the puzzle.
