Rhombic18 was developed as a next order up of the Ice-9 puzzle. Whereas the geometry of Ice-9 is based on a truncated 3-sided prism, Rhombic18 is based on a truncated 4-sided prism, which becomes a rhombic dodecahedron. Due to the additional symmetries of the rhombic dodecahedron, Rhombic18 has four times the number of available face turns, and twice the number of vertex turns as Ice-9.
This puzzle fused the axis systems of an edge turning and a face turning hexahedron into one hybrid puzzle. Like all puzzles with an axis system like the edge turning hexahedron this puzzle allows jumbling turns.
