Curvy Maze Cube

A 3x3x3 with a beautiful rounded and very innovative maze structure as stickers.

The stickers for this cube were the result of a very strict set of rules:
1. All the stickers are identical.
2. Opposite sides have always the same pattern when solved.
3. All the corner cubes have the same pattern.
4. The six sides can be divided into two sets with identical patterns each.
5. One closed line.

Interesting about this variant is that there will never be a "dangling" line without connection to another sticker. The challenge here is not to connect all lines but to create a single throughgoing loop.
A variant with non-identical backgrounds exists too. This variant allows to use the usual strategies in solving a 3x3x3 thereby denying the concept behind this stickering scheme.

The inventor also created a variant with straight lines.
Phillip created this variant in October/November 2010 before it was presented in the forum in 2011.

There is a patent under three different numbers (WO8703212, AU6628286 and EP247097), filed 1985, which show the same pattern but used for a token moving game. This patent has never been used and the sticker pattern was reinvented independently.
