This puzzle has the same axis system like the pentagonal prism. The difference to the prism are the orientations. The face pieces of the pentagonal prism have a visible orientation in this puzzle.
This puzzle's shape is the pentagonal dipyramid which is the dual solid of the pentagonal prism. The transformation of shape was not perfect in this case since it would have resulted in a corners only turning puzzle. It is unknown whether this was intended or not.
In 2012 the creator presented a redesigned version. The images showing a black body are of this redesign.
