Icosahedron Megaminx
Above:Solved
Click a thumbnail to see its larger version and description.
A Megaminx transformed into its dual solid shape.

The same technique which transforms a 3x3x3 into a Trajber's octahedron applied to a megaminx. The corners become triangular faces. The edges stay edges but change their shape. The faces become corners.
The first time a puzzle like this was invented was in 1981 by Alexander Ordynets although that was forgotten until some old images were brought back to light in 2012. This first sample must have been made from scratch because the megaminx didn't exist in this time.
Until 2012 Jürgen Brandt was credited with this puzzle. Jürgen made his sample in 2004 from a megaminx. He didn't know of Ordynets' work.

In 2024 a mass produced version "Icosaminx" hit the market. See image 4.
