The package reads: "Magic Ball Puzzler"
Although this puzzle functions exactly the same as a regular 3x3x3 sphere, it is very hard to solve. The "stitching" graphics simply do not match up very well.

This puzzle would have been sold by children, likely in the USA, to raise money for their local little league soccer teams. The proceeds might have been used to buy uniforms and equipment.
