The 6 layer face turning octahedron v2 uses deeper cuts than V1 (see the seperate entry) resulting in the same type of proportions like that of the Royal octahedron. V2 has 40 stickers per side instead of 36 for V2.
As for the mechanism, this uses a skewb core, followed by a master FTO ball with extensions to allow for the remaining outer pieces for finishing this puzzle. Anyway, with the success of this puzzle, it sets the stage for the designer to attempt a face turning octahedron with 7 layers and 8 layers.
