Hey forum,

Here is my latest puzzle, The Rex skewb. As the name suggests, it is a combination of a rex cube, and a skewb puzzle. Sorry for the low quality photos, I don't have a better camera available.

So beautiful! Eric, you have to slow down, how do you think I'm going to afford any of your puzzles at the rate that you're pumping them out? :P

Now that's what I call a beautiful puzzle!

Look's great, congrats.

It looks phenomenal- I love the combination of curved and straight cuts.

Beautiful! This is equivalent to a master FTO, modulo stickering, right?

I discussed this with Eric the other week. Technically speaking a Master FTO in cubic form would be a Skewb plus shallow cut Rex Cube, however this puzzle has the 'exposed' centers on a cubic Master FTO hidden.

I would say so. It's like an Elite Skewb (two slices between tips) but without corners would be another description. Just like describing the Rex Cube as a Master Skewb without corners.
I wasn't aware that a master FTO turned into a cube would have straight and curvy cuts.

That is new right? First puzzle with straight and curvy cuts. It looks awesome.

Sharon and Matt's CopterMinx had both kinds of cuts.

No, I don't think the cubic master FTO fields curvy cuts, it would be an elite skewb simply with corners missing. It requires the corners pieces to have some footing to stay in the puzzle. Imagine a master skewb, take out the corners and add skewb cuts.
in my mind, this is equivalent to master FTO, I couldn't see the difference Luke mentioned :?

Notice that the Master FTO has a piece in the very centre on each face. The piece is equivalent to the Compy Cube corner, which can be seen on a shallow cut Rex Cube. This piece is hidden on the Rex Cube.

An easy way to think about it is if you remove the Skewb Diamond cuts from the Master FTO, you do not end up with an FTO. You end up with a shallow cut FTO, which Okomoto made a while back.
