I like Fishered Square 1 better because Fisher's square 1 implies that Tony Fisher himself made this one or made the puzzle originally an A J copied it.

There aren't many distinctive variations of the Square-1 name because it wasn't intended to describe the puzzle itself. (The original slogan was "Can you get it back to Square-1?") I suggest a variant based on the Cube 21 name because it's more descriptive, referring to the mix of 2x and 1x pieces.
Perhaps you could call it a Cube 12 (opposite of Cube 21) because the 1x and 2x pieces have been swapped. It's not a sexy name, but it accurately describes the puzzle.

i was just thinking of building something like this. although mine would have never come out this beautiful. i, unlike everyone else, do not think you should call it anything to do with fisher.(even though it is the same idea as fisher's cube) How about AJ's -1? boring i know... haha

Back to Fischer
Ok kind of silly.
I would say Fisher 1 is catchy and a bit more interesting than Fisher Square One or something like that. So I would vote for Fisher 1.
Something else: It looks great! And I can't believe it hasn't been built before. I'd say it looks much better than the original one.
Great job on this one!

I agree, it should be called Square-12. That's whats great about Square-1 Mods - you just call it Square and put a number after it.

You Bumping Police really need to learn when bumping is appropriate. There have been quite a few appropriate bumps that you guys have called out as wrongful.
290- June 16- A J's Unnamed Mod
It still needs a name, so be sure to keep this thread alive until A J comes up with the name.

I suppose I shall pull rank and make it clear that by definition the Admins and Moderators will be the proper judge of what is or is not an appropriate bump.
I do appreciate that people want to help out and educate others about the rules, but in cases of like this it is much preferable for someone to help by using the report button (the ! button in the lower right of each post). This flags the post and any one of the Moderators or Admins can then look into it and make a determination. If you don't like that someone complained about bump, report that post instead of responding. I suppose the easy rule is that if you aren't adding puzzle relevant info: Report, don't respond.
Some bumps are easy to rule out, but many are in a grey area. I would classify this one in that area because it was about a month and the post was attempting to add value. Could be a bump, could be acceptable. Now, because of the discussion that has ensued, I have to weigh not just the value of the bump, but the value of each post since the bump when I decide whether or not to delete it. Frankly at this point if I didn't find some educational value in this post I am making I might just delete all the posts.
Make my job easier, not harder. In cases like this post less, report more.

This is definitely not a good reason to add traffic to the forum and fill up Sandy's hard drive. If it gets a name in a timely fashion, great. If not, well, people have moved on. We can't keep everything open forever. Someone with a great name can very easily PM it to A J.
Dave
P.S. The proper name is 1-Square, as it is a reversed Square-1. If I weren't already posting this I would PM that to A J
