The pieces of this puzzle are divided into two groups, top and bottom. Pieces from different groups can not interchange, except for the middle layer.
The only way to scramble each group is a sequence of ABA'B' turns. See image 4 for an example.
The closest relative of this puzzle is a further bandaged Fused Cube. See image 5.
