It's a 1x1x6, but instead of being a straight line, they are attached at 90 degrees. Clever.

hehe YES!
I originally found this dead easy method of making a 2x1x1 using the keychain Snake
I took two 3x3x3 corner cubies and placed a snake pieces inside of each.
and then I thought why not go ahead an make more pieces and as I made more I then found I could make this "half" cube shape out of it.
and the little brother was born
I hope you like it!
SPOILER:
there supposed to be a picture here showing the puzzle i its flat snake shape.

The astrolabacus works on this same principle, by the way.

I didn't think of that right away, but now that you mention it, that's very interesting. It almost makes me want to make a 1x1x6 in a loop just for the heck of it.

It's has 6 'tube' pieces that are at 90 degrees bends, so you could say if you made a loop out of the puzzle you would made, in theory, it would have similar movement to the Astrolabacus.

for those of you who wanna play with this idea, you can easily make this puzzle by using rubiks regular snake. they make a little large but nice cubie size, plus I suppose the quality would feel way better
I just used the keychain cus I liked that I could snap the pieces on and off. and for the cubies size ofc
I am gonna go ahead and make a large version of this puzzle in the loop variation. maybe introduce 1x1x3 pieces..
edit: lol I thought Astrolabacus was a person heh, that would be a cool name

That'd be cool if in the 1x2x3 shape it could also be "solved" (only one color on each side), then the puzzle could have more than 1 solved state.

I've actually thought of this before while building my 2x1x1.
Good job on the build and beating me.
