I've made several mods before but I've never gotten around to totally sticker, or polish, or use a whole new cube to make it. I know this is just a Rubik's Cylinder but I'm very proud of it! I've been working on it for over a month, but its mainly because I had to order Apoxie Sculpt and Vinyl sheets from CubeSmith.

I used a compass to draw out the rough circle shape. Then I took a belt sander to it to make a rough design. Then since the belt sander melted the plastic I had to use a knife to cut away the plastic that was hanging off. Then I went over sanding it a little less aggressively. Then I waited for the Apoxie Sculpt. I filled the cubies in roughly again then sanded after it dried. Then I applied finishing touches. I then ordered vinyl sheets from CubeSmith. Next I took a ruler and took the lengths of the stickers I would need. I then drew, with a ruler the sticker shapes. Next I took a knife again and cut out the shapes. Finally I applied the stickers and took pictures!!

I hope you like it!!!
Ryan

Great job! Especially on the stickers since you don't use a plotter!

Good job on it.

Just curious, what is that in the background of first listed picture (the scrambled picture)? Are you planning a shape variant of a 2x2x2? Just a wild guess 8-)

Oooo! I'm so glad someone noticed it! I'm not yet telling what shape or puzzle it is going to be made out of. All that I'm saying is that I used the help of the Small Stella Demo to create the paper shape. I'll un-vale the puzzle probably late December. (I just have to get some sheet plastic and a Ru....)

Oh yes, the puzzle is my favorite shape.

I can't wait to see your new mod. BTW isn't the cylinder cube a tony fisher puzzle?

Yup its a fisher puzzle. I just thought it would be a good idea to start with one of those.

I bought the plain sheets of vinyl from cubesmith and used a regular knife to cut it.

PS. Does anyone have a tutorial for ABS sheets?

Great Job on the puzzle. Cylinder cubes are hard! I've made one before and I hated making it. I would suggest maybe using a higher grit sand paper for the final sanding. It will give your puzzle a much smoother look and allow the stickers you stick much easier. :D Again great job!

Sorry about my question, I didn't know that Cubesmith had started selling vinyl sheets until I looked on their website. Thanks

I actually started talking to him about buying plain sheets from him about a month earlier. In his messages he said he would be adding them to his site. I bought the sheets before they were on site though.

for some reason, the rough cut pieces have their own type of appeal to them, but does it affect turning?

It doesn't turn the best. But when i got the cube it wasn't so good any ways. I don't think it effected it. (affected?)
