The purpose of this topic is to give some important information about the future market development of Panagiotis Verdes Cubes.

The NxNxN cubes of his invention which are legally protected by 54 National Patents:

a. will be released worldwide during 2008.
b. the announcement of the release date will become known to
all of his puzzle friends only by Panagiotis Verdes or me , in the
first months of 2008 via our website.
c. the prices for the puzzles that all the twisty puzzle community waits,
will be reasonable and all cube-friends will afford to buy any piece of
them.
d. any other release announcement that concerns fully twisty cubic toys
of any order from any other source, has no relation with our Cubes.

Finally, I want to ask all the forum members to inform everyone that is interested in his cubes by pointing to this exact topic.
I am waiting for your comments and thoughts.

Thanks
Konstantinos Verdes

So is it reasonable to say that this is Mefferts selling them?

I very much hope to be able to but many olympiccubes. Question. What cubes are you releasing?

$60 seems kind of costly! I would pay $40!

I interpreted d as saying that any other nxnxn cubes are not connected with OC, meaning Mefferts aren't...

I took this to mean that maybe Meffert's is working on his own 7x7x7, so people don't confused Meffert's 7x7x7 with Olympicubes. I could be wrong though.

Where are you getting this information from? Besides, if the cube cost $40 in materials and labor, you can't really make a profit selling them for $40.

Uwe's email on the 6x6x6 and 7x7x7 says $60.

So $60 isn't reasonable...

It costs over $50 for a 5x5 over in the UK, consider yourself lucky you get them cheap over your way...

Wow that sucks! 25 Pounds? I got my 5x5 for $30 but I think they are cheaper now. You should have just bought it from an American website lol.

Do you guys really think that 60$ isn't reasonable!!?!?!? considering the high quality and intricacy of the cubes themselves this is a very user-friendly price.

So now I need to afford:

2 megaminxs
2 Meir pyramids
3 Pyraminx Crystals
2 Golden cubes
2 Mefferts 6x6s
2 Mefferts 7x7a
2 Of everything Olympicube sells.

I'd better hope the owners of the places I put applications in get back to me. Fast!

We still don't know if that is the price...

Here is the big question...

Mefferts or OC?

Which one are we getting?

Obviously many people will get both. I plan on getting two of both, one to use, one to keep in the box or to use if the other breaks on me or something. If in the future for whatever reason I need more, I will go for whatever is better (probably olymiccubes). I want the entire line of OCs to use as primary speedcubes.

That's easy, the first one for sale is the one I'm getting FIRST. The second one, of corse I'll get that one SECOND.

OH DAMN! I wanted the Golden cube and H-M Pyramid, but I dont think I'm gonna get them. Maybe the Pyramid though.

SO for me its
1 tiled megaminx
1 pyraminx crystal
probably Olympic 6x6 and 7x7 (1 of each)
Maybe Meffert's Halpern-Meier Pyramid.
Oh and Olympic cubes 8x8-1x1 when they are released :)

Also I thought Uwe WAS selling OCs. Someone please help me.

So Sirajali,

Uwe is releasing some version of the 6x6 and 7x7. Mr. Verdes seems to imply that Uwe has some design of his own. It will be very interesting to see what ends up happening with all of these big cubes

Oh ok I see. Thanks Emr. I think I'm gonna buy the OC's, and Uwe will get my money from the other puzzles he's releasing. Like you said, let's just wait and see.

1. Allowance. Even if it isn't much as long as you don't spend it on trivial stuff and save for cubes you should be good.
2. Ask to see if you can do some extra house/garden/lawn work for your parents. They will pay you for that.
3. Sell DIY's to persons around town and friends at your school (don't make a "business" of it. I believe its called soliciting)
4. Change. Every time you have change in your pockets put it in once place (box or something). I've gotten over 70$ from 2 months of change.

I am not legally old enough to have a job but by thinking and utilizing opportunities you can come up with the money you need :).

Hope this helps,
Sam

I also took this post to mean that OC and Uwe are not working together, mayber Uwe figured he could beat OC to the punch and get some sales.

Hey Sam. I do get $10 a week for chores, but I want those puzzles Meffert is releasing. I know! My birthday is 11 days after Christmas! I can get all of the puzzles for that, and use my money for the OC's! Hopefully it'll work.

Thank you Konstantinos. I hope you and your father have the success you deserve for providing us with these wonderful puzzles. The quality of the 5x5x5, 6x6x6 and 7x7x7 you allowed me to look after at Cube Day was amazing. I still can't believe how 49 separate side pieces on the 7x7x7 can rotate together so smoothly.

Well, if Mefferts is releasing his own version of the higher level cubes, then I will definately buy both versions. The rubik and eastsheen cubes are so different and interesting in their own ways, so mefferts and OC will almost certainly be the same way. I will have to get two of each cube though. One to collect (MIB first edition), one to compete.

Has anyone heard when Mefferts intends to release his cube?

NEWCUBES, thank you for that information. I'm very excited to own some of your puzzles.

... O_O;;

Anyhow, while this news is exciting, it still doesn't change my demand of zero for this product until they become competition events.

Not much of a collector [yet] anyways.

in that thread, they say: “The olympic cube 6a will be ready for sale in 3 months”

they (newcubes, olympic cubes, whoever (verdes son, correct?)) comes across as very mean and immature in his postings, yelling at forum members, and making empty promises dating back to at least 2004. the cubes do look amazing (watching frank morris solving them), but i am personally sick to death of hearing about them. when they (if they ever) finally become available, and if they are indeed at an everymans price range, then i am certain i will be singing their praises, but until then...

New email from mefferts:

Mefferts said he has two potential sources for mechanisms. He didn't go into any more details, but that means someone else is creating higher level cubes. I'm posting this in the mefferts thread as well.

How fast time is running!
In June 2004 the OC's are announced. (I wasn't even a member of this forum at that time)
In June 2005 I get my first 6x6x6.
In September 2006 I get my first 7x7x7.
In October 2007 at DCD information is given that the Olympic cubes will be released for the public in 2008.
This is fast progress.

Thank you Mr Panagiotis Verdés! Thank you Konstantinos!

Wasn't Tony Fisher working on a 9x9x9?
That would make sense, as Uwe Mèffert is also producing Tony Fisher's Golden Cube.

I believe that that was a hoax. Tony was trying to show the community that he too can make jokes...I think.

Kind regards,

I see this presence of at least two makers to produce a >5x5x5 as a positive devlopment for those of us desperate to get our little paws on such cubes, as the race to be the first to market them will probably result in them coming out sooner. On the other hand, it could have a detrimental effect on the quality. But seeing as we're a demanding lot, an inferior quality cube will have little hope of economic survival.

 I'm dying to see those cubes (and have my hands put on them !).
I would definitely go for one of each, any color (black/white) and model (5, 6a, 6b, 7))...well...depending on the price's "reasonability", as mentioned above (but at least one of each model in one color) !

Thanks for the effort you put in this, to bring us the new generation cubes :)

Hi :-)

I wasnt there, but from what i heard the 5x5x5 version will be the first release (no big surprise actually). Unofficially i also heard that it will first be released at some event in 2008.

This is all i know, and not much to judge by

To help maintain a nice aura in the atmosphere, here's my bit!

*****************

:)

Πανταζής

********************************
And in English:

Dear Konstantine,

Thank you for this update. Also, please forgive anyone else who is impatient, they also love puzzles and they can't wait to try out those amazing cubes.

Myself, as a collector and mathematician, I will not hesitate at all to buy at least two 6x6x6s and two 7x7x7s.

I wish you from my heart that all goes well with the final steps before the release to the public.

:)

When exactly during 2008 (January or December)? That's what I'm anxious to know.

Obviously they don't know when exactly in 2008 yet...

What I wonder is if the cube is gonna have standard stickers or something else - considering how hard it is to put something with that many pieces together, nice tiles wouldn't be difficult. Also NEWCUBES, are you sticking with the white plastic, or was that just for prototyping and will be switched to black in main production?

what I'm interested to know is will stickers lay flat on the rounded puzzles when restickering.

Oviously I'm not Newcubes but I know the stickers stay on very good on the round puzzle(s) also (unless I'm mistaken (not likely)) they will make them in both colours

Just because the overall shape of the cube is curved doesn't mean each piece can't be flat....
