For lack of a name, I went with Mastermorphix (since it's somewhere between a Master Pyraminx and a Pyramorphix).

There's a tiny drawing of such a puzzle on the 3D Puzzle Reconstruction Studio home page (http://csx.jp/~3dpuzzle/). Has anyone seen or heard of this puzzle before? Is there a better "folk name" for it (like "Slim Tower" for the 2x2x3)?

This is not made from casted pieces but by using plastic card. Sorry that's all I know.

I started making one of a Studio cube (57mm), so all official parts. I made all the cuts, and filled the holes with milliput. I will take pics when the milli dries, tommorow probably.

I just figured out the explanation behind MILLIPUT's name.

They sell it as the Putty with 1000 uses.
Milli = 1000
Put = abbreviation for Putty
Milliput: The Putty with 1000 uses

That must be why it is called that! And do post your photos. Cant wait to see them. If you can, can you show a few of it scrambled?

And if i forgot to mention it before, i love the name mastermorphix!!

For filling hollow cubies rock hard water putty has worked really well for me in the past. It is cheap and dries really quickly and can be easily painted and sanded. You can get it at Home Depot or Lowes.

Well larger than a 3x3x3. Photos can be deceiving. Check Joshua's drawings again to give you the idea of size because his plans are correct.

Acts like a pyramorphix. But I have only done this using a virtual model. It does go crazy though.

Online somewhere? If so, where? Personally im in awe of this thing. Im almost considering trying to make one - i think i could do it if i put my mind to it.

Mine isnt done, i just have the base cube done. However, i feel i can finish at least 1 face by the end of the week (which is alot, considering every piece must be shaped)

I think i can make the pieces from existing pieces. Hopefully i can.

does anyone know what i can fill a cube with that i can buy in low quantity? (Milliput isnt really the right stuff)

Note: In my isometric for the edge piece, i forgot to put the part that holds it in the 3x3 mechanism. This can be on either side, depending on where it is int he cube.

i meant is it based on mini 3x3 or regular 3x3.
But if you are saying its bigger than a 3x3, ill take regular 3x3 as the answer.

No, I model everything I plan to make using Blender (http://www.blender.nl) which is a freeware rendering/modelling package that rivals 3d studio max, except that it is free.

I model each of the pieces, then group and twist them on screen. Anyone using Blender here, if you want the original file let me know. I can also supply a vrml version for importing to other modellers.
