ok guys, I will summarize my experience with ordering tiles.
In the past, I have ordered from three different places:

1. Chinese seller 1 (aka Finder). The tiles were the cheapest I had ever bought. But the lines, corner grips, and strings, were a bit rough. Not the finest product, but nevertheless they worked excellent. As I have stated before, I would rate them 95/100 compared to the original ones from http://www.rubiks.com. Shipping was also very cheap.

2. Rubiks.com. I got plenty of Simpsons and Harry Potter magics, which I then disassembled to make my custom ones. The quality of those was exactly what I expected. Fine lines, nice corner grips, although older original magics had better strings. Shipping was ridiculous (and that is the calmest word I could use). I have even asked the website twice in the last year of where I could find raw materials (tiles etc) and they have never replied. Very disappointing.

3. Chinese seller 2 (aka rubik). I was in total shock when I received them yesterday. The tiles had extremely fine lines, even better than those from the official rubiks.com site. The same holds for the corner grips and the strings. What else can I say? It was a very pleasant surprise. Price was also cheaper than Rubiks.com and shipping was super fast. Which means that now I know where I will buy from again in the future! ;)

Verdict:

- If want many tiles for cheap price and quantity, order from Finder.
- If you want many tiles for very reasonable price and best quality, order from rubik. (this is my personal pick!)
- If you want magic tiles of any kind, avoid http://www.rubiks.com at all costs. You will only waste your time the same way I did.

:)

Yes, I have seen the tiles myself. They are quite well-made.

You should also offer just Magic strings for replacement purposes.

One note on Rubik's. They ship to the USA within a week; I have always received my ordrs promptly. Their international shipping however, is another story. They charge ~30USD and ship with a 6-10 WEEK delivery for international customers. It takes less time to get to the moon...

Yes, the orders do arrive. But the timing was ridiculous. I made three orders, and the average shipping time to Australia was FIVE months.

Just in case this is not denoted, I repeat, five months was not the total shipping time for those three orders, it was the average shipping time!!!
In two out of those three orders I had them trying to track the package after four months, as I had the impression that they got lost.

For me, it would have been really nice had it been 6-10 weeks. But it was certainly not. :(

PS. Most of you might actually remember my agony while waiting the tiles last year, as I was trying to finish some orders for magics before my conference leave (early December).

In that case it would take less time for your order to get to Mars...

you can say that again!

Of course, the customs/quarantine also play some big part.
Items can be "forgotten" there for some time too LOL

Hmm. you might be right about the space shuttle thing.

The launch time from ground to space would be about 1-2 minutes to space. Then how long until mars, plus risk of the tiles melting from the extreme sun heat or the risk of the strings floating and getting lost in the storage chamber.

Thats a sentance i thought id never write.....

Anyway, yeah. The rubiks.com has ridiculous shipping costs. i bought my magic and the shipping was 8.99 when the magic was 9.99! The shipping isnt that much! expecially because the package isnt heavier than 1lb.
