In Gothenburg, Sweden. It was some sort of IT-conference and I just happened to be there together with the swedish distributor of the cube.

I didn't see the pictures, therefore, I have no idea who you got to meet. Anyways, congratulations.

A couple of funny notes about the event:
The first that he did was to come up to the table I was standing by and inspect my cubes. He twisted them and murmured something in Hungarian to his collegue. The collegue then asked why there where no logotypes on the cubes. I replied with the truth, that I had replaced all the stickers because I wore them out (new stickers thanks to Adam Zamora). He in turn said that Mr. Rubik instantly felt that they were "real" cubes but he was puzzled about the missing logo.
Mr. Rubik asked me about my times to which I replied: "In the 30:s". He just shook his head, gestured and said something like: "Lower, lower... you have to get lower"
Mr. Rubik was interviewed by the radio and was asked to solve the cube getting timed by the reporter, but he didn't want to do it. I was then interviewed separately and did a horrible time of 47s (the nerves got to me). Mr. Rubik did solve the Rubik's Magic though in a few seconds with the same solution as the speedier one from Jaap's site.

Cool!
I am sure, I wouldn't have recognized him, if this had happened to me.
Now a trivial question: How tall are you? Or more directly: Since you stood beside him, can you tell us, how tall ist HE?

I wish I could meet him someday, as I am a collecter, speedcuber and a puzzle builder of twisty/Rubik's puzzles.

I'm 187 cm, or about 6'3", which makes him pretty short. I had somewhat envisioned him taller but as you've all heard before: "size doesn't matter" Ton wrote: Next time practise on speedcubing
I sure will... 20s here I come!
As for meeting him, I think we should organize some sort of championship in Budapest and then we might get him to come. I'm sure many speedcubers and twistypuzzlers would like a chance to meet him. A european championship in Budapest 2005 perhaps?

You don't have to send me any. I'll probably get some anyway, but thanks a lot for the offer. I think it looks nicer with a logo and I like the new "2005 - 25 year anniversary" logo.

Is there any way someone could contact him to get him to come to the RWC2005? That would be so cool! No doubt he would be smothered by people trying to get their cubes signed. Btw, Congratulations.

Thanks. I think the best way to try to get him there is to contact Dave Hedley Jones at SevenTowns.

Don't you mean OWC2005? and not RWC2005. Orlando starts with a O not a R or is it some where else that I haven't now heard about yet? Just checking thats all!!!

I believe he meant Rubik's World Championships 2005 or RWC2005

Yes, I did mean Rubik's World Championships 2005. Though I think it should be WRGC2005 because speedcubing.com calls it the World Rubik's Games Championship 2005.
