Yes, you are right. Those are eastsheen pieces.. The internal mechanism is definitely either an eastsheen 4x4 or a meffert/rubik 4x4. The outside pieces look to be 5x5 eastsheen pieces...
Wayne, The NAME, EMAIL fields dont work on autocomplete for me... is this my end, or server end?

Little informations about your reply : First, thank you for your congratulations. Second, I have use no element of existing cubes. I have design and made all the pieces and particularly the mecanism. There is more than 200 pieces in this cube !!!

One curiousity, it's a bit hard to make out, but is tha a complete checkerboard pattern or is the top face not checkered in the picture?

Wow!!! Congratulations!!!!! A workable 6x6x6 is something, i`m dreaming of!
Do you want to keep your internal mechanism secret or can you gave us some information, how you managed to build this wunderful puzzle? (just curios - i don`t think, i am able to build one too)
Really great work!

Yup! I definitely want one of these. How much for the 6x6x6 cube? What form of payments do you take? Any ebay?
Jaap you there? I was just curious on how many combinations there are?

Once the orientation of the puzzle is fixed (or, equivalently, after fixing the position and orientation of a specified corner), this seems to be approximately 4.30756E118, or, exactly,
7! 3^6 (24!)^2 [24! / (4!)^6]^2 [48! / (8!)^6]
but I await Jaap's correction...
Unfortunately my license for Mathematica has run out, so I can't give all 119 digits of the result.

This is great work. Congratulations. I'm begging you to allow me to add these pictures to the TwistyPuzzles.com database! And I may as well add my name to the pot of "Will you sell one". But if I were you looking to sell this thing, I'd have it on eBay real quick.
And since I'm begging for pictures, I'd also like to ask the following inventors for pictures too:
- Anthony for the Dodecahedron - Maxime for the Professor Magic Tangle - Wayne for the Super Magic Middle-Earth
Did I miss any?! What a week!

Speechless is right...
Amazing work. Yep, definitely look like Eastsheen pieces. You can see the intricate overlapping work in the partially turned piece.
In any case I am just happy to bask in the presence of its magnificence.

Hi Sandy,
I see no objections.
However, you might want to have better pictures of the puzzle. I will try and use a real camera, instead of the poor-quality webcam I used for this pics.
In the meantime, please, feel free to take these pictures.
Well, I haven't decided whether I should like to sell this beast. It looks great and I have had fun building it, but I don't really have a collection. But I could probably trade it for... a 6x6x6 ? :-) doh!
Cheers. Maxime.

You beat me too it it as well (not that that's saying much), and I am impressed.
But i was wondering, looking at the pictures it looks as if an edge and the piece next to it have a cut out the size of a 3x3x3's the obviously wouldn't seem to alow the turning of a 6x6x6, how did you do it?
(If that didn't make sence heres what i mean, the circular cut out visible is the same size as on a 3x3x3 cube, implying that it would turn as one -about that 3x3x6 edge- which it visibly does not.)

I hope that someone will produce the 6x6x6 in the next year or ... two years (at least one of the 6x6x6 types). Is there no firm (Rubiks, Meffert, Eastsheen or ... ?) that has interest in the production of such a puzzle ?
50$ or 75$ for a piece ?
not enough quantities for interesting revenues ?
I am really curious to see what happens.
Anyway I find it really amazing. Compliments for the mechanism in itself. Compliments for the capability to produce the phisical puzzle. Compliments for the patience of the realisation.
We wait now for the version of Wayne.
Bye,
Aswapati

I've worked with Photoshop to try to exaggerate any differences in the sticker colours on the top face, but was unable. It certainly does appear as though the top face is pure green.
Then again, whenever I follow the familiar checkerboard algorithm on a 4x4x4, I end up with this same problem. Four sides checkered, two sides solid.

Corrected value (let's hope this is OK now):
7! 3^6 (24!)^2 [24! / (4!)^6]^4 = 1.571528584E116
The complication is that pieces of the kind marked X and Y below (a view of one face) must stay in locations of the same type. You can check this by considering the action of each face turn and slice move. It is easy to construct 3-cycles of (say) type-X pieces, so that all _distinguishable_ permutations of type-X pieces are achievable.
****** **XY** *Y**X* *X**Y* **YX** ******
Can anyone think of any more constraints?

Maxime, I hope you are working toward a patent on this design. Furthermore, I hope you are working on a contract with one of the puzzle manufacturers. Given some of the behaviors we have seen in the puzzle world, you need to be filing patents immediately, if not yesterday, in order to protect you intellectual property rights. Congratulations and best of luck.

Seriously though I imagine it will get upwards of $3000 on ebay, thats just my guess. That is unless you list it with some obscure misspelling ;) If I were you, I wouldn't be able to part with something like that for any price, unless of course I had two of them.

Solving will not be a problem you can use the same method as for a 4x4x4, it is only much more work compared to a 4x4x4.

What happened eventually with that threat?
Almost 4 years ago! Dang! Time passes so fast.......
I have a few questions on my mind.
Where is Proffesor Koran who claimed he had almost made the patent for 6x6,7x7 and bigger cubes? No relation with Mr Verdes, inventor of olympic cubes? First news about Verdes were a lot of years ago too, right?
Do anybody know if it was any connection between those? Even more, was Laure in the middle of the subject too?
Quite strange that too many proyects for 6x6 and, 4 years later, still unable to buy those........
Mr Verdes, you're our last chance!!!!!!! lol.
Waiting waiting waiting....................

(i'm sorta new, so noob question:) when someone creates a new puzzle, do they patent it right away? like ex. did tony get a patent for his golden cube? do other puzzle-creators get patents? cuz i am interested in building new cubes. just wondering. of course this 6x6 has been made by many people. but does one person hold the patent? from stopping other people to sell it when they make it?

Unfortunately in the U.S. a utility patent done correctly by a lawyer costs about $8000+.
Also, the patent covers the internal mech. Therefore, if somebody comes up with a new way for the insides to work then they can sell their own idea.
I think it's like how there's a Rubik's and an Eastsheen 4x4 and 5x5. However don't quote me on this cause there's some international stuff going on and laws change from country to country.

is there an Eastsheen 3x3x3?
cause there is an OLYMPIC CUBE No3...
to come soon
if you talk about cubes there are very very very very much limited alternatives...on the internal mech. So many that I can count them on my my one hand fingers and still i have many fingers left...
if you talk about other products you are right.

Not a bad translation. But for precise grammar and syntax, it should be:
"Κωνσταντίνο, σας ευχαριστώ για τη σκληρή εργασία και την προσπάθειά σας να δώσετε τα νέα προϊόντα σας στα χέρια μας! Θα περιμένω υπομονετικά μέχρις ότου ετοιμαστούν και θα χαρώ να αγοράσω ένα."
(I am saying this, because the word "διεγερθώ" is used for other, more "sexual" references LOL)

Second: I wonder what an Eastsheen-style 6x6x6 would look like on the inside? It would be so complicated... (But so cool!)
