Barnes and Noble sells things to make a profit but they had to lose a few buck on my purchase. I purchases a Rubik's Revolution, 4x4, & Icon puzzles all in the hex packaging. Rubiks.com and winning moves websites are out of stock on this puzzle in the hex packaging so I thought it was interesting that they had them.
Anyways. I got $2 off each puzzle with my barnes and nobel membership (About $6 total) I got free shipping since it was over $50. They then shipped in 3 different boxes. All 3 were shipped on different days. 1 by mail, the other 2 by UPS. Strange.
Anways. I recently purchased a Revolution on Sale at Toys R US. The Revolution from Barnes and Nobel is the Signature Edition with Rubik's signature on it if anyone is interested.

do you think that having erno rubik's signature on it is an attempt to legitimize the toy a little more to all the people that have bashed it?

Just a few days ago I was getting a Rubik 4x4 and this older lady asked me about the Revolution and I told her not to get it but a 3x3. You could call me Revolution Hater.

I got the Revolution, and then I was so pissed that Rubik's would sell out their name like that, then I had my friend over and we played with it and laughed at how stupid it was.

it's funny, this product wouldn't sell half as well if it didn't have the Rubik's name on it.

everytime i see revolutions on the shelf next to actual cubes, i get a sick feeling in the bottom of my stomach. and then i get a strong desire to punch attendants who send me to an aisle full of revolutions when i ask if they have any cubes

stopped by BnN yesterday. in general i never would have thought they would actually HAVE cubes. not just Revos either. they have regular, revenge, professor, and a few other specialty puzzles. to makes things even better, i found out there was ANOTHER shop in the mall that carries hobby stuff: board games, puzzles, calendars, etc. and even those guys sold non-3x3 rubiks cubes.
looks like i'll be stopping by the mall more often now

i couldn't believe i was hyped up about it when it was first announced, but i guess that's the nature of newly released stuff. after i saw a video of the Revolutions on youtube, i caught myself having one of those "wtf!!" expressions on my face.
granted i guess they were trying to cater to a huge age range, and since rubik's had already made the revenge and professor i guess they wanted to take the Revolution in another direction.

Really though, they should have been smart and released a 6x6. Even better, and 6x6 and a 7x7, but oh well
we get stuck with flashing led lights on a non turning cube. Pretty colors O.O Yay! /sarcasm

I just saw these on a trip to Arizona. I thought that the Icon cube was awesome! I mean, it's just a cube, but the colors of the stickers made it worth $5 more in my book! Also, at this barnes & noble's, they had a Rubik's Twist. I thought that was cool...

took the plunge....i bought the 4x4 at barnes n' noble. i gotta say the outer layers turn like a dream. by no means do they turn smoothly, but it's a hell of a lot better than the 5x5 that i bought on rubiks online a while back.

I read somewhere that the new generation needs flashing lights and explosions or they can't keep their attention on it. I notice this when I bring a 5x5 to school and it takes me a while to solve. At first, some people watch and can't believe that I can do it, but after about a minute they lose interest and go on to other things. It's a shame though, that we need to press buttons to be entertained instead of being given the chance to figure out a puzzle such as the 3x3. Oh well..

Got my Icon in the mail today - ordered it online... The funny thing is that, at first, I wasn't going to open it, but I gave in, and decided to break into it from the bottom, so I could restore it without breaking the seal on the top. Getting the hexagon shaped pieces to fix back together tightly after two solves was probably harder than actually solving the cube! Still fun to solve though, especially the LL (with white as the cross layer..) Two solves were Fridrich and Petrus - Petrus seemed harder IMO on this cube...

I would have to agree. I still can't get the pieces to fit tightly

Argh! I hate revolutions also! I agree that they wouldn't sell half as many without the Rubik's name on them. On a topic I started, I made a poll (even though it had nothing to do with my topic) asking whether or not the revolution deserved to bear the Rubik's title, and the majority is voting no.
