Very interesting.

It seems to be a 3x3, with the center pieces changed into a big center pieces and overlapping over the corners, and the edges transformed into longer ones, overlapping over the corners too.

All the previous mixed with a rounded shape.

Any other idea?

It's so cool anyway!

For some reason, I think this is a little bit more customized than just a "simple" edges only cube.

It's amazing!

I think he made it from scratch.

Look at this:
http://bbs.mf8.com.cn/dispbbs.asp?board ... 180&page=1
That's another puzzle he built.

And check out this one:
http://bbs.mf8.com.cn/dispbbs.asp?board ... 028&page=1

And while you're there, there are loads more of great posts.
Anyone care to go through that site and list all the cool links?

Thomas

OK, at first glance I thought it looked kind of interesting. Then I thought about how it might work, thinking it was some sort of round edges only cube. Then I saw the first link that Thomas posted, and now I'm thinking I'm REALLY impressed with this!

If anyone here can translate it correctly, please tell Daqing how pleased I am!

I remember I have visited that site before, but because it's all in Chinese, I find it difficult to find my way. Still, I found some great posts:

- Homemade Skewb Ultimate
- Homemade Skewb Diamond
- 5-layer Square-1 tutorial
- How the Dino Octa relates to the Master Skewb

Please tell if you happen to find some other interesting posts or images.

Thomas

He has a lot of skewb balls to cut up. I wonder where he's getting them. He's done some amazing stuff with them.

Post count does't mean anything. He has earned far more respect from me then many of the 3x3s and 4x4s here.

Here's a couple interesting ones. For those I don't recognize I'm just translating the name he gave them.

Master Pyraminx
Super X he calls this one a rice cube, as the lines on each face look like the Chinese character for rice
6x6x6
Halpern Pyramid
large super skewb
diamond four-axis cube
4x4x4+2x2x2 previously discussed
3x3x3 mods, including a 3x3x5
skewb mods
1x2x2, cute
Master Pyramorphix
Master Octahedron (?)
hand made cubes wooden cube anyone?

The first link posted by Thomas is called an eight-axis ball. Not sure I understand how that one moves.

This is the modding sub-forum.

Amazing! Some are excellent tutorials.
They should be added to the Twisty Puzzles articles section.

Thanks Chris,

Thomas

谢谢各位的回复与讨论,我通过翻译软件是可以看懂英文的。 也感谢各位朋友关注中国的魔方论坛mf8.
这6 stalk balls是由3*3*3球形魔方改造成的,这是我的制作过程:

This 6 stalk balls is made from a 3x3x3 ball, this is how I made it:

Edges only cube, I was right! Take that Kirby.

Hmm, the only 1x2x2s I've seen are made from bandaged 2x2x2s. Is this made that way? I guess it looked different to me. Comment rescinded.

It is different. It's the natural way indeed, and it's been sketched several times in different topics here. Yet it's the first time I see a 2x2x1 made this way as it requires the mechanism made from scratch. Which is what we see in those pictures. Adam's 2x2x1 was made from a bandaged 2x2x2. Also, the Morph puzzle pictured there is a 2x2x1 too, and has a clever mechanism that is essentially a 2x2x2 bandaged at the mechanism level. Take a look inside for yourself, it's very interesting.
