Yes, indeed, I was hoping to get some envious comment.
Now which one is correct?

Hmmm, that 5x5x5 Rhombic Dodecahedron looks very nice!!!! :D ;)

(Honestly! I've been looking for one for quite some time!)

Aha, you want the numbers.

By the way, misterpoopoohead won Aleh's second Brilic auction.
But I don't know which number that was.

By process of elimination, he has either 7 or 8.

Do we know the last person who owns one?

I believe Aleh sold #2 to skeneegee. I know it was an early one, and it was 12 color. I saw it at the Caltech Winter 2007 competition where I met Adam Zamora, Mike G. (skeneegee) and Aleh for the first time.

But perhaps this is diverged from the topic (remember DCD? Sorry, I started this deviation) and deserves its own thread. Then again, it could be a one post thread if Aleh is one of the posters :)

I quoted the information from a mail I got from Aleh in October 2006, so perhaps I am not up-to-date.

If anyone wants to meet me, here's a picture of me at last year's DCD, so you know what I look like.
(I stole the picture from Frank's website at www.tiex.de/fun/more_fun.html.)

I'm quite sure he'll have his puzzle there.
Yes, that's missing in my (and so many others') collection.

I have right now only one Brilic #1, 6 color version. Before I planned to keep two of them (#1- 6colors and #13 (unlucky number for somebody) 12 colors). But couple months ago I needed money for buying car to my wife, so I sold #13 to Frank.

About #8: I sent it to ....? OMG I forgot 8-)

It wasn't for sale at the time, but I guess this is the one that you auctioned on eBay in december 2006. For a whooping GBP 686.00, approximately $1,340.31! And that one went to Frank Tiex. See viewtopic.php?p=44018

Wow this thread is bringing up a lot of memories!!!

That's quite a nice list of Brilic owners! 8-)

Well, my quest of owning a Golden Cube still goes on. Even if I do buy a Meffert's version, I still want one made by Tony Fisher! (You hear that Tony? You still have an incentive to make them - I would still be a buyer :D)

However, has anyone been following the recent Baxter auctions?

I have finally won a puzzle that I have been waiting for for several years now - I'm actually still on Bill Cutler's waiting list for his cube.

Not really. Last year it was the first time I visited the DCD and I bought Tony's new creations there. The majority of the puzzles I won at ebay. DCD is definitely the cheaper way and of course much more relaxing

I'm back from DCD07. It has been fascinating! I met a lot of people, some for the first time.
An outstanding guest was the son of Mr Verdes, the inventor of the Olympic cubes.

I'll upload some pictures soon.

It was a good day. I got to meet a lot of nice people and play with a lot of great puzzles: Master Pyraminx, Floppy Cube (both unbelievable), Milan's Halpern-Meier Pyramid (flawless), 2-layer Puck Puzzle, Olympicubes 5, 6 and 7, two of Tony Fisher's 9x9x9 (almost real), of course Tony's four new puzzles, plus his two new prototypes, Gigaminx, Bump Cube, Brilic, David Calvo's Dino Cube (imho better than the real thing), Drachen, David Litwin's Biohazzard, Frederic Plateus' Tetraforce-1, plus his just finished Square-1 Diamond (both very impressive, as they're his first builds). And I'm sure a lot more that I can't remember right now.

Frank Tiex really freaked me out when he said he couldn't find his Master Pyraminx anymore! Especially as I had specifically asked him to bring it along. After about 5 minutes he found it at the bottom of his bag.

Please Frank, don't do that to me anymore. :-)

Did you get to play with the SuperX and Helicopter Cube? I hope to be there next year, but for this year, only my puzzles were able to attend.

Well - hopefully at another time.

Sorry Thomas, not my intention at all.
I also was not really calm while searching. Anyway I did not really believe, that anybody took it away and so it was of course. So it came to a good end for you and me with just a little bit of >> SUSPENSE <<

I played with them, Adam, and I was very very satisfied with the SuperX. Compared to the one I have it has lost all looseness, the corners hide the screws far better - it looks like a factory-made puzzle, turns great and I was tempted to order one (I pre-ordered a Helicopter cube - another fantastic puzzle) But I really would like to have one of the SuperX cubes to *play* with, mine is beautiful in my vitrine, but I can't really play with it.

There were other puzzles there without their creators. Whereas I knew Hidetoshi's Bump Cube, I was avid to turn Lee's Pentagonal Prism (please make one for me, Lee!) as well as his Triagonal Prism. The Pentagonal Prism turns like a Rolls Royce and I really want to have one.

The same goes for your Brick Cube, Hidetoshi (that I want one I mean :-)

One thing I haven't said so far and that needs to be said:

A big THANK YOU to Geert, your friends and NKC members and not to forget your family, who helped a lot to plan an execute this wonderful event.
Again you all did a fantastic job and I really enjoyed it to be there.

Just back from Holland. I have loads of stuff to sort out including videos and pictures. Here's a picture to start with. It shows Georges with Konstantinos Verdes and a few puzzles he brought.
Really annoyed that I missed Erik's WR but I was kind of busy with other things.

Here is a video of the Konstantinos Verde's statement at Cube Day. Around 2 mins at the start is missing. It also shows Geert Hellings explaining about the problems of making higher order cubes. Apologies for the bad camera work.

Thank you Tony, it was a very informative and pleasant presentation to watch.

Mr Verdes quoted: "I am pleased to inform you that the procedure for sharing out the production line has already began in Greece"!!!

Well, just in case, I should really plan a trip back to Greece in July 2008!

:)
