I just bought a Rubik's Ideal 1980 made in Hungary, the one Ton Dennenbroek recommends for speedsolving. Right now, I'm trying to remove the center caps.
Can anyone ,who has one, tell me how they like it for speedsolving?
Most of the Hungarian versions I've seen are flat under the centers which makes them easy to pop apart, usually spitting out an edge piece. Personally, I don't like that feature, which makes the "sweet spot" is too small.
On the plus side, the stickers are durable, the plastic is good, it takes lube well, and some very quick cubers like them very much.
