The good Dr. stopped selling puzzles a few years ago. I searched and tracked down an old email and was surprised to hear back from him. This was at least 3 years ago. (I can check my records on Monday). I purchased his last 4 5x5x5 puzzles. He had just sold about 200 to another person. This person then sold them 1 at a time on ebay over a 3 year period. This was before Meffert's 5x5x5's were popping up on ebay. I think he had a couple of ebay id's but one of them was 5x5x5. Christoph told me he was done with puzzles and had sold all of his extras except for what he was keeping. All I could get from him was the 5x5x5's. 5 years ago when I started actively collecting I could have gotten so much for a great price, had I known where to look.

I picked up the Sonic can in Tokyo in the mid 1990s.

The ball is a standard puzzle ball skewb I picked up at the San Francisco Sanrio store around the same time. It wasn't for sale, but was an item in their shelf that could be redeemed by buying enough Hello Kitty items. Every $5 got you a stamp on a card, 10 stamps to a card ($50) and this was a 5 card item ($250). I don't suspect there were many young girls who's parents spent $250 at the store who would have interest in such an item, and so I asked for the manager and was able to convince them to let it go for $20. Wow, I checked my records today and it was August 2000 that I contacted Dr.Chistoph Bandelow. He had just sold almost all of his 5x5x5 cubes and sold me his remaining 4 cubes. He said he had ended his puzzle business a few months earlier.

Did he stop because he wasn't making enough money?

He stopped because he found that he had other interests in life

Are there any other people like him who still sells puzzles (I doubt it but if
there were anyone I bet the person won't tell his source)?

LOL that is an extremely naughty photo there Shawn. I had some brilliant feedback from many collectors for the Secret of Atlantis and I am glad you like it too. Afterall, it is my favourite magic puzzle and this is why it will compete at the IPP 27 this August!

With my newer tools, even the quality of the paper tiles and stringing, is much much better than those crappy custom 8-tile magics I send you in a hurry last July (there was world cup on!!!)

And I can also see you have finished the three layer SpongeBob!!!

Yes pantazis, the problem with this puzzle is that even though I play with it, it doesn't get any bigger. Certainly not very realistic!!! LOL

The first photos I was only joking around, by putting some puzzles taken apart up there!!

The 3 layer spongebob is sort of a corners missing link. I would have loved to make it where it flips in the center like a square-1. Then of course I would have to paint the pants on it so that the pieces can only be orientated in one direction as a correct solve.

Man love your collection!!!! Would you happen to know the name of the puzzle that is wood and has red rings in the top shelf on the right side thats in the first picture? I love that puzzle a lot. I'd make it a home decor piece. PM me if you want.

Its REALLLY cool! It was a bit flimsy but I made it very strong with some gorilla glue. You have to maneuver the string around and off the puzzle.

I think I have one some where but I just love how it looks also want a new one. Thank you very much for the name. I know I got mine from bits and pieces years ago.

yea, the best way to get a Rubik's cheese and a Dino cube is to make one out of a UFO and a rainbow cube, respectively. And that's if you just want the puzzle. If you actually want the original real deal hten yea, you gotta wait for an auction and then put down the $$$.

we had a problem a while back with a sage spammer. He would post sage in any topic that he thought was unneccesary or after a post he thought was unnecessary. Unfortunately he got other people into saying "sage" every now and then.
