A little advice. Always make items available worldwide. You lose nothing by doing so but potentially a sale by not.

I had auctions like that before and the buyer tried to get me to give them money for a pick up at the fedex store.

Just make it clear on your auction that international buyers may be charged an import duty and they should check local regulations. There's thousands of successful international sales happening every day and that shouldn't put you off. A lot of people assume a cheapish item won't sell abroad because of the high postage but you will be amazed at what some people will buy.

Oh, the buyer probably didn't have experience yet with Fedex (or UPS) charging a brokerage fee. It's an awful shock to anyone who doesn't anticipate it. In Canada, for instance, someone might live in an area where there is only 5% sales tax. The tax-free mail amount is crazy low, at $20, and 5% of 20 is only $1. But when a private shipper does the government job of collecting the $1 tax, they charge some unpredictable brokerage fee for that work, which could be $30, $50, who knows, it is a mystery. I have learned to order by postal service only long ago (which still charges $5 service fee to collect the $1, a nutty use of government tax to pay a government service $5 to collect $1 on behalf of me the citizen rant rant rant).
