The current largest collection of mechanical puzzles resides in the UK. It is the Hordern-Dalgety collection, and is made up of around 65,000 puzzles of all varieties. It makes the head spin.

I have a fairly substantial bunch of toys in the house but I would never dream of telling anyone I had the largest collection in HK (although I might have) 65,000 isn't just a mind boggles, it's....well, there's really no word for what it is really. Unfathomable maybe?!? Something worth visiting for sure! I'd love to just spend a week there!

After moving permanently to Greece from Australia, it seems that I am officially the biggest collector of puzzles in my country! "Just" 3000 different pieces. In July, my special "Puzzle House" at the Kastellorizo island should also be ready. Of course, there will the 4th "Kastellorizo Enigma Congress" on the 14th of July 2013. (and since my entire collection will be there by then, it will the biggest event to date). Pantazis PS. In New York now, if anyone wants to meet and check some nice new puzzles I brought with me, including many SUPER new ones, you only got a week!

I do find this topic rather childish, 'who has the biggest' Well I dont have the biggest collection, only 979, but I have endless fun with my puzzles.

Mine's the biggest in the world.
But as far as puzzles go, I don't really collect them and have just a handful. Well OK, maybe a small box full. But then again I don't know of any big collections in Switzerland, so I may well have the biggest (and yet embarrassingly small) collection in the country?

I'm pretty sure I have the biggest collection on my street, probably my neighborhood too. Beyond that I have no idea.

I live in Canada too . I maybe don't have the biggest collections in Canada but in the Maritimes maybe . I am 16 year old, and I have spend (minimum) 3000$ in my collection. I say minimum because I didn't take the time to calculate all the stickers, lube, shipping and other fees that I spend my money on, (and time )so I spend A LOT of money on puzzles for some one of my age, well I think . And sorry for my bad English .

Haven't heard anyone specifically mention the US, so I'll take a stab and enjoy temporarily believing my collection is the biggest in the US! I have about 55 puzzles at the moment. Beat that!

I know I have the biggest collection in my house - probably in my street, and possibly in my city (Sheffield, UK) but not in my country. I have 550 puzzles of which 84 are twisty! Not bad for 2 years 5 months of collecting!

My collection contains around 350 puzzles, so not too big. However, I am in New Zealand, and don't know many others here who collect. The person who has the next largest collection that I know of in New Zealand has around 70 or 80 puzzles. -Mark-

I may have the biggest in my city (San Antonio, TX). I have maybe 350 DIFFERENT types, but have about 1,500 puzzles. Can't find anyone in this big city that even collects puzzles.

The "Directory of Puzzle Sellers and Puzzle Collectors" might be able to answer this question if there were a digital searchable version.

A lot of people joke about this, but the question is interesting to me. And most importantly, we forget that our forum is called TwistyPuzzles and it communicate, mostly fans of Twisty Puzzles. It is logical, considering the puzzle in his and others ' collections, consider the number of Twisty Puzzles and judge the largest collection by this figure.
We know that there are very large collections with thousands of different kinds of puzzles, but... Twisty Puzzles many times less than other puzzles, and if I would like to strongly increase the collection at the expense of other types of puzzles, this could be done quickly.
And in doing so, having different kinds of 65000 puzzles, you can be sure that this is not all.

People would have great twisty collections and not say anything, or not be known publicly. I'd love to know if there were people in my country with great collections, but who knows?

Sounds like someone's specifically interpreting to get the numbers in their favour.

I think I own the biggest in my country: 94 different twisty puzzles, about 105 total. I know, it is quite small compared to other collections but hey! I'm also #1 at something, somewhere

If I wanted to break things down to a subset of twisty puzzles then I think I may have the biggest collection of sticker mods.

Hello people, I'm back (at least today).
Today I have around 1000 puzzles in my collection (most of them twisty puzzles). I stopped to take photos of them at around 800th because of too few available time.
I think I have the biggest collection of my country (Brazil), but I don't know many collectors here, just cubers. Most of the little Brazilian's collectors have bought their puzzles from me.
Having the biggest collection doesn't matter for me. Maybe some hidden collector in Brazil have more puzzles and I don't know.
