I just got into cubing, and am wondering will there be an Irish Open this year?

Unlikely. There has been only one competition, and unless one of the few Irish competitors or yourself can organize one (and get the UK delegate to come along), there are unlikely to be any competitions. You should come over to the UK and compete. An advantage of you being Irish is that it is very easy to get national records. I know that some competitors have tried to change their nationality to Irish to increase their chances of breaking a national record.

Sadly not. I'm hoping to attend three UK competitions this year (and I'm hoping that one of them I'll be organizing), and it will cost too much for me to fly over for a relatively small competition. Perhaps you can come over here for the UK Open?
