I want to convert a 4x4 to a 2x4x4 the same way cbc converted a 5x5 to a 3x5x5, could I use a similar method to what he did to get the outcome I want? If your not familiar with the mod he did then watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmvQjfii ... ure=relmfuPlease can I have people thoughts and maybe possible problems I might run into please?

clauswe, Don't think this is off topic, but does this technique work on cuboids? Could you make a 2x4x5 out of Ayi's 5x4x4?

Is the pillowing of these cuboid mods done to avoid showing the olzing (Olzing?) in the upper layer or just to make an interesting look?

As doug stated, that is one reason, another directly related reason is because since we are in effect just shaving down two layers, we could not go any further due to that preexisting mechanism's limitations.

The olzing occurs in the 3x5x5 Im not sure about the 5x7x7 but they are usually pillowed because its bandaging an nxnxn to make a nxnxn-2, simple but works amazingly!

As they are made by fusing the top and bottom two layers of a cube, I was thinking that I would see how much of the original top layer centre I could remove above the screw and then use that as the fixed height to trim the layer flat across. Now that I have the cubes I plan to use, I will disassemble them to see if this will work, but with so many pillowed cuboids being made I'm concerned that I'm missing something.
