Hi Twisty Puzzles fans,

Nested Cube has two 2x2x2's, one inside the other. However, the two 2x2x2 can not move independently, as two outer corners are connected to two inner corners. This introduces a new way of bandaging.

I published the original version mid 2010. Recently, I decided to revisit the design and to build a new version that is a bit more robust and smoothly turning, and it has a bigger hole in the center. Otherwise, it is the same puzzle.

Very nice, turns well.

This is really a bandaged 4-dimensional 2x2x2x2 twisty puzzle, where 2 of the 8 outer corner pieces are bandaged to 2 of the 8 inner corner pieces. Total visible parts = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 - 2 bandaged parts = 14 (excluding the stickers).

Now how about a 3x3x3x3 (like a normal 3x3x3, but with 3 onion layers), or at least a 3x3x3x2?

Why did you revisit this puzzle and not a different one?

I had sold my original prototype mid 2011, and I noticed that I kept postponing its replacement because I was not entirely satisfied with its turning. So the revisit was on my to-do list for many months, and finally I decided to take the time. Usually, new projects take precedence.
