This looks great. And only $2,200, which, although a lot of money, is very cheap for what it offers. But what about overhangs and support material? I can't find any info on this on the website.

No support material. Still overhangs are not that much of a problem, you can actually get away with much. The plastic usually does a good job at supporting itself if the overhang is not too extreme. Even small gaps can usually be bridged.
It really makes some nice products with the really thin layers - though I'm afraid this may come at the expense of print speed.

I still do not see a revolution for us: WSF remains a much nicer material (mostly due to its strength - with FDM you really need to be careful designing, thin parts tend to determinate) and the price is not that competitive. $2k gets you a lot of printing over at Shapeways. With this you have to do everything yourself and there are a lot of potential issues.

Maybe... Claus does seem to like the FDM material and he uses it often. I can't really fault him, with solvent smoothing you can get a really awesome - nearly production quality - finish.
But while we're at it, why not get him to buy one for me

Wow, this has come a long, long way. And so cheap for what it is. I'm actually starting to see how one of these could end up on every designer's desk, almost like IBM did with the PC all those years ago.

And I'm not too worried about the materials, as I'm sure new materials will be added over time...

Would love to invest in the company - if I had the money.

My uncle is considering getting one. He already has a Thingomatic (which is in the process of being brought to my house ) but he wanted to get a replicator, and now he's thinking about getting one of these. If he does I'll definitely make some posts comparing the quality of prints with the Thingomatic.

Tom, I definitely understand your concerns on strength and pricing. The filament is very cheap, though. I've probably printed enough to cost me hundreds of dollars of Shapeways printing for about $20 in ABS and PLA. As for print speed/quality, the Replicator is higher quality than the Thingomatic and prints significantly faster. I would assume the Replicator 2 makes another jump in both of these.

Personally, with seeing what Claus can do on a printer with .254 mm resolution, and realizing this goes down to .1, I'm extremely excited. It's going to have its limitations, but it definitely opens up puzzles that would normally require Shapeways.
