Almost all paint / pigment used for stickers contains these kind of metals. For example the old Politechnika / Politoys / Studio cube's stickers contains much more cadmium than it is allowed now days.
These metals give the color of the stickers.

Isn't that a bit like selling food with a warning label, "may contain cyanide" ???

Almost is not all. There are other options, it's just that this is the cheapest. You also need to remember that what Chinanproduces for sale in country is vastly different than that for export.

Take the cheap option and that is what you get...at least it was labeled.

And that toys/cubes for the internal Chinese market are generally made of better materials (and thus somewhat higher in production cost)?

No, just the opposite. My badly written reply was an attempt to show there are cheap options. At least this one was labeled. Many are not.
