To start things off I need name help! Shallow Mixup Cube is great but I want a common name too. The reward is $5 off of this puzzle if you come up with the perfect name.

In this thread I showed off my doctrinaire shallow mixup cube. Well because I couldn't make a 150 mm to the edge puzzle yet, I made this 57 mm jumbling version instead. Mixup Cubes have the strange property of becoming harder to solve as the cuts become shallower. The same could be said about the mechanism. The puzzle is only three layers though; a 2x2x2 core, a mixup plus, and the visible shallow mixup cube. Apart from lock ups it turns very smooth. The version on Shapeways has slightly larger fillets fixing this small issue. It has 122 parts plus the internal mini 2x2x2. I made this prototype back in May but couldn't sticker it until now. Please enjoy!

What it is:
-Shallow Cut
-Mixup
-Cube
-3x3
-Plus
-Face Turning

Here's what I suggest: The ShMP. That is the Shallow-cut Mixup Plus. It would be pronounced "shimp" (shrimp without the "r")

I think Shallow Mixup describes it perfectly. Master Mixup is another good one, but it doesn't twist on the `master` cuts. It's nice to see it realized.

This cube looks like a Kyle to me.
It also looks really cool! Good work.

Well thank you. I wanted to design a stand that worked for almost every puzzle and this was the solution. A plus to the cradle design is even when a puzzle is all jumbled up it can still be held. Both it and the smaller version are offered from my shop.

And sorry eye2eye, but this is not the Kyle Kube.

Very very nice. I'd love to see this mass produced. As for a name... the shape of the center sticker makes me think of an old cathode ray tube. And the 9 center stickers as a group make me think of an old TV set. How about the name Tube Cube.

How about 'Messup Cube'? The name feels related to Mixup Cube (to me, at least) and tells what a jumbled mess the cube becomes when scrambled.

I think the cube is very pretty, must be a fun one to solve too!

Brilliant puzzle Mike! I would also love to see this puzzle mass produced. Good work. :)

Clever name.

Also from solved the added cuts do not allow two mixup turns, the same as yours. Allowing these cuts would need to cut the small inner corner pieces. Instead during scrambling these inner corners often get jumbled allowing three or more mixup turns in a row. I made the cuts curved/conical because I didn't want any potential overhang bandaging.

@Coaster Also a nice name.

So, mixup properties aside, does this only act as a shallow-cut 3x3x3, or does it also act as a 5x5x5 (the inner layers move separately)?
