I'm happy to present my second 3D printed puzzle (but the first the be released). As the name* says, it is basically a jing's pyraminx, but it can turn again after an half rotation (60°). I'm quite proud of the result, but there is some mistakes (I used too much super glue on the blue side, which resulted in having glue on the fingers and putting some glue on the stickers, so they whitened by drying) NEW VIDEOShapewaysold video PICTURES : (taken with my iPhone) *the name is not definitive, if you have some ideas for a name feel free to suggest. P.S. I hope my english is clear enough!

Wow, this is really nice. It has a very cool looking face pattern too. How many shape changing turns can be made before it is completely locked up? It looked like it was somewhat blocked after the 2 you made in the video.

That puzzle is seriously awesome. And seriously confusing. I'm looking forward to the next video to see how the geometry works. Great work man.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that there are always at least two axis that are not blocked. Before dying it, I did a lot of shape changing moves, the limit is way beyond 2!

This is really neat. This means each grip turns modulo 6 rather than 3? Doesn't this mean that the puzzle jumbles? Do you have a feel for whether or not the bandaging is due to jumbling or if the puzzle can be unbandaged?

I'm not sure but I think it jumble. I'm trying to find wich pieces need to be unbandged, but after just a few moves I didn't found a blocked axis because I'm scared to scramble it

I would have thought we would see a Mix-up Skewb in cubic form first, but seeing it first as a pillowed tetrahedron is cool too.
I wonder what the spherical version would look like.

This is very nice. I wonder what it would look like as a skewb.

Beautiful, especially the shapes it makes when it jumbles. It has a lot of stored cuts. Must be pretty fun to solve as well... I'll try to figure out its skewb form. EDIT: Here it is Attachment:

More EDIT: After toying with this puzzle in SketchUp, it feels surprisingly unrestricted. Question: it's the face hexagons that are attached to the core, not the corners, right?

It has all of the hallmarks of jumbling behavior. Whole groups of pieces can be spun around and exchanged with other pieces. It seems quite similar in jumbling to Gelatinbrain's 6.3.1 So far I'm having a lot of trouble unjumbling it. Edit:I'm pretty close to unjumbling the puzzle and I'm getting a better feel for how the jumbling works. I have made an image to describe roughly how the jumbling behaves: Attachment:

The GREEN parts behave in a group like BLUE corners. Corners can go in the green spots and the green group can go in corner spots. Also, just as corners have 3 orientations, the green group can be twisted in place. The PINK edge wing pieces can be turned around in place but I don't think this can be done purely. Other parts have to be jumbled out of place too for them to be in backwards. The minimum unbandaging cut that I can find is the YELLOW line. It would be hard to reach a situation where you could use this cut though. Even more useful would be to add the yellow cut and the TEAL cut as this would open up quite a bit more jumbling. EDIT 2:I've figured out the rule for the PINK edges. To flip one around one of the adjacent irregular 4-sided parts (the chiral ones) has to to be in the wrong orbit. That is, a right-chiral piece needs to be in a left orbit or vice-versa. This will force the edge wing to be flipped around too: Attachment:

Looking back either you can only add one extra cut per turning group or new pieces will be created that could float out of the puzzle. A split sphere Dino cube would be very easy and straightforward though.

This puzzle definitely jumbles. Back when the Constellation Six first came out I ran some unbandaging simulations and they came out something like this. You can see the parts that are getting cut to dust from jumbling. It's a shallower cut version so that it doesn't have any corners. It looks like this on jaap's sphere.

Based on my playing around with the Split Jing's Pyraminx, if you continued to unbandage it I think the corners would get sliced down to dust and the centers would get sliced down to circles. I'm not sure if the middle edge pieces would survive or not but it seems like most of the rest of the pieces would turn into dust.
