So recently I was at a craft market where I came across a used Rubik's Cube which I bought for 50p, so I thought why not make it the base for my first twisty puzzle mod!

Turns out it wasn't really the best choice as a cube due to the glued down centre panels and lack of screws (Rubik's really don't want you getting inside their cubes apparently), but as this was only really a trial run I wasn't too bothered. Plus I've learnt a valuable lesson for next time.

Anyway, after a good few hours I ended up with this:

You can probably tell that I took a lot of inspiration from heiowge and his incredible Borg designs.

Now I can't decide what to do as a paint job. Anyone have any thoughts?

Beautiful. Just make sure whatever paint scheme you decide on you dry brush it on to give it that aged borg look

I reckon you're right there! Heiowge made it look pretty incredible like that, so I think I'll probably try the same.

I decided to stick with just black as it made the colours more pronounced.

Thanks! Not a professional job by any stretch, but I'm happy with it as a first try. :)

It's still lightyears behind your work, but I'm happy with it as a first attempt. Plus I have a whole new respect for how much effort goes into making 'simple' puzzle mods!
