Can't believe some people forgot Professor's Hexagonal Prism? If there was a 4th place it would be cubes on a disk

Assembly and casting don't change the fact that the puzzle was designed specially in CAD software for the deliberate purpose of this exact puzzle. The call between handmade and otherwise is, at least to my knowledge, that you must physically construct the parts from existing other parts or using physical craftmanship. That you printed any parts means you did not construct the puzzle with your own craftmanship or from existing other puzzles. However, you did point out one of the main flaws that I do agree with. It's difficult to make a call. I don't think it would affect anything seeing the decreasing number of puzzles

My original suggestion was- 1. 3d printed / cast from 3d prints 2. Hand made / cast but no printing involved You could even split 2 into 2a and 2b. 2a being mods / transformations and 2b being Hand shaped / made parts and mechanism excluding springs and screws. Examples of these would be Daniel Urlings matchstick cube, Aleh's 4x4x4 and even my awful Triangular prism. Fully handmade twisty puzzles are rarely made.

Another odd exception would be to modify an existing Shapeways puzzle. It is 3-D printed, but not for the purpose of the mod, so if you hand-modify a shape-ways puzzle into a different puzzle, is that hand-done? Stickers is technically another odd exception but those never really receive any votes anyway.

I feel like it's pretty safe to say that we're not going to need to worry about that! Thanks again for doing these lists!

I have certainly purchased a few in the past for projects which for some reason or other got cancelled.
